Ozzie Guillen and his team had the right stuff working on Sunday, as the White Sox defeated the Cubs, 6-0, in front of 39,745 — the largest crowd of the season — at U.S. Cellular Field.
The White Sox rattled Cubs starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano with timely hitting and an aggressive attack on the basepaths. On the other side of the mound, the South Siders received a sparkling effort from pitcher John Danks, who beat the North Siders’ ace and shut down their offense for the second time in less than two weeks.

CHICAGO — The squeeze was on as Chris Getz made a dash from third and headed for the plate.
It’s also the play that seemed to unnerve Zambrano. The emotional Cubs ace hit DeWayne Wise with the very next pitch and a short time later was out of the game. “I was surprised that it was a stolen base, but looking back at it, I guess that’s the only way you can rule it,” Getz said. “It was a suicide squeeze, Zambrano recognized that I was going and tried to avoid Wise from bunting it. So it turned into a stolen base.”

CHICAGO — Scott Podsednik knows what it’s like to thrive in the clutch in Chicago — and he loves the feeling.
“That stuff never gets old,” Podsednik said Thursday after his bases-loaded, two-out single in the 13th inning lifted the White Sox to a 6-5 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. “Winning hits are always fun.” He is something of an authority on the subject around these parts. Podsednik won Game 2 of the 2005 World Series with a ninth-inning home run for the eventual champion White Sox. This season, he has delivered the team’s only two final-at-bat hits, the other coming June 11 against Detroit.

James Johnson’s journey to the Bulls began in earnest at the start of last season, when Gar Forman, then the Bulls director of player personnel, scouted the 6-8 Wake Forest forward for three consecutive days at a tournament in Anaheim, Calif.
It ended when when the Bulls selected Johnson with the No. 16 overall pick in the draft Thursday, three hours after Forman, now the Bulls general manager, had a final predraft telephone call with Wake Forest coach Dino Gaudio. ”We talked to Dino a number of time, but we actually talked to him [Thursday] about 5,” Forman said. ”Asking him about a couple of his players in this draft. The one thing he said is James would compete every day in practice and games.

Says new Chicago Bears quarterback fine as leader
Devin Hester says he has heard enough. He is tired of hearing the criticism that new Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is not a mature, capable leader. “If you haven’t been around a person like Cutler, how could you say something like that?” Hester said before appearing in a photo shoot Monday evening at Soldier Field for an Under Armour commercial. In recent weeks, Super Bowl-winning coaches Tony Dungy and Mike Ditka have been among those who have expressed reservations about Cutler’s maturity level.
