Chicago Bulls fans will be unhappy.

The Chicago Bulls have officially missed out on Amare Stoudemire, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh. And, it looks like LeBron James will be added to that list on Thursday night. Now, they need to make a move. It looks like Carlos Boozer will be the next one to target. The Bulls would potentially add him to a lineup that includes Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, and Luol Deng. But even if they get Boozer, Chicago fans will feel left out. But that’s the way it works.

From ESPN:

Cousins has been compared to everyone from Shaq to Zach Randolph, but here’s an interesting historical comparison to ponder — could he be the next Moses Malone?

“He’s huge, he scores around the basket, he’s a terrific rebounder and he plays with a chip on his shoulder,” one GM said. “How many 20-10 centers come along? Not very many. As far as a talent goes, he could be incredible in the NBA. The league has gotten smaller and quicker. Cousins would kill most of the big guys in our league today.”

Cousins also fared well in the measurement category, comparing favorably in size to NBA centers. He measured a legit 6-foot-11 with a tremendous 7-foot-6 wingspan and 9-foot-5 standing reach. Those numbers put him on par with the likes of Dwight Howard, Greg Oden and Brook Lopez. His interviews weren’t nearly as bad as everyone made them out to be, either.

From ESPN:

Analysis: Anderson was one of the best scorers in college basketball and could be a very good fit in the Bulls’ backcourt. His ability to stretch the defense and attack the basket would make him a nice complement to Derrick Rose.

Even if the team ends up landing LeBron James or Dwyane Wade, look for Anderson to be the guy. As far as NBA-ready players go, there are few better in this draft. I’d expect him to play the same sort of role James Harden did in OKC last season.

From ESPN:

Analysis: How can a guy who just measured with a freakish 7-foot-7 wingspan slip this far? The word out of Chicago was that the interviews didn’t go so well.

Whiteside isn’t a bad kid, but he’s very naive at this point, in a way that reminded me a bit of Tyrus Thomas. Eventually some team will decide the talent is too much to pass on. But I think he did some damage to his stock last week.

Sunday night, the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 7-4 to take a 3-2 series lead in the Stanley Cup finals. After letting up three goals in the first period, the Flyers put in backup goalie Brian Boucher to try to stop the bleeding. However, he had just as much failure as Leighton had.

So far, each game has been won by the home team. On Tuesday night, the series heads to Philadelphia, where the Flyers look to take back control.

Dustin Byfuglien tallied two goals and two assists for Chicago. For Philadelphia, Chris Pronger had a +/- of –5, which is the worst of his career, counting both playoffs and the regular season.

The Bulls should set their sights on Joe Johnson.

In a big sports city like Chicago, good performances are expected. For a team that has been exiting first round lately, it is time for the Bulls to step up. Derrick Rose is an excellent player, but he clearly needs help. With the 2010 free agency coming, the Bulls need to target one man: Joe Johnson. Sure, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, and Amare Stoudemire are all better plays. But the odds of any of them coming to Chicago are very slim. Joe Johnson is in his prime, and is 28 years of age. By the time a long-term contract would end, yes, he will probably be a little out of his prime. But someone with his shooting ability will be a valuable asset until his career ends.

Joe Johnson is likely frustrated with the under whelming playoff performances that Atlanta put on. And just like everyone else, Johnson will be eager to see what is out there for him. If the Bulls reach out to Johnson immediately, he will likely be very receptive. A backcourt of Rose and Johnson would likely be the best in the entire league. It is up to Chicago to make it happen.

The Flyers got a much needed win Wednesday night.

Entering Wednesday night, the Philadelphia Flyers found themselves in a 2-0 series deficit against the Chicago Blackhawks. While the Flyers became the third team in history to come back from a 3-0 series lead just two rounds ago, losing game three would have essentially sealed the Stanley Cup going to Chicago.

With the game all tied up, Patrick Kane scored quickly in the third period, which sent the Philadelphia crowd into panic. However, Ville Leino answered a mere 20 seconds later, sending the crowd into a frenzy. In overtime, it looked as if Simon Gagne won the game for the Flyers. With the red light on and the players celebrating, the puck never crossed the line, and thus the potential game-winning goal was taken away. With the Philadelphia crowd in a nervous state, Claude Giroux sent that nervousness away when he scored in overtime, which gave the Flyers a 4-3 victory.

Now down 2-1 in the series, Philadelphia looks to even it up. If they do not, Chicago is in serious command.

Carlos Marmol is off to an amazing start in 2010.

With a 24-28 record, the Chicago Cubs are not exactly off to a hot start. But one man is off to a phenomenal start- Carlos Marmol. It seems as if many closers come and go in this era of baseball. Two years ago, Marmol showed signs of becoming a great reliever. Last year, he was not bad, but was not what Cubs fans would be hoping for. But at age 27, Marmol could be headed for a breakout season.

On the forefront, Marmol is 1-0 with a 1.46 ERA, which is fantastic. He has converted 11 out of 13 save opportunities, which is certainly solid. But what is just awesome is the fact that he has struck out 49 batters in 24.2 innings (that’s about two per inning, for those who didn’t pass first grade). That just shows that Marmol possesses dominance right now, and can make him a feared closer.

So Cubs fans, you are used to pain. But in 2010, get ready for a dominant closer.

The Chicago Blackhawks took a 2-0 series lead over the Philadelphia Flyers last evening, winning an exciting game two, 2-1 in Chicago. The Blackhwaks were led by a stunning third period performance by goaltender Antti Niemi. Niemi was fantastic in the third period, making 15 saves, including several from point blank range when the game was in the balance. Chicago’s Marian Hossa and Ben Eager scored just 28 seconds apart at the end of the second period to take the two goal lead. The Flyers cut the two goal lead in half with a Simon Gagne goal five minutes into the third but were unable to come up with an equalizer.

The Flyers now return home to the Wachovia Center in a 2-0 hole. To say game three is a must win is an understatement. In order for the Flyers to win game three, they do not have to change much. They were the better team for most of game two, they just could not solve Niemi. The Flyers must find a way to slow down Marian Hossa, who has been dominant in the first two games of the series. It would not be surprising if coach Peter Laviolette changed his strategy and matched Mike Richards line against the Hossa line to try and slow him down.
